Amy is passionate about providing counseling services in a non-judgmental way that helps clients with their everyday lives.
Amy’s clients describe her as compassionate, funny, authentic, relatable, understanding, and innovative. She’s been told she makes counseling enjoyable, while still challenging clients. Her office is a space where people can be exactly who they are.
She has worked with a variety of diagnoses in the past including neurodevelopmental disorders, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, bipolar and related disorders, trauma and stressor-related disorders, feeding and eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and personality disorders. Amy now specializes in working with clients on anxiety, depression, life changes, grief/loss, perinatal mood disorders, infertility, and parenting/special needs parenting.
Throughout the process, Amy integrates referrals, coordinates with other providers when needed, and shares resources to provide education. Her treatment approach depends on each client’s needs and background and includes evidence-based techniques.
Amy graduated from Liberty University with a Master of Education degree and additional clinical coursework, receiving the highest honors possible. She has worked with children in a variety of settings and launched a children’s book publicity division for one of the top 10 public relations firms in the country. Amy has also coordinated and implemented publicity efforts for celebrities, non-profit organizations, politicians, and large corporations.
These experiences enhanced her ability to understand and work with clients from a variety of backgrounds and fueled her passion to move toward a career directly helping others. Amy earned a Bachelor of Science degree from one of the top journalism schools in the country at Ohio University with a minor in psychology.
To get to know her clients, Amy often asks what they would do if they had an entire day to do whatever they wanted. Amy’s ideal day would include time spent outside or at the beach, seeing a movie and eating popcorn, strolling Barnes and Noble and reading a book while drinking an iced coffee, taking a drive and listening to music, and having dinner on the water with her husband, children, and friends.
